Day of the Dead

I felt the happy kind of sad walking through the cemetery today- lots of families remembering their loved ones with drink, flowers, mementos and even an older couple dancing while some men played guitar.








Later I asked Alfonso (the hostel keeper) if he visited the cemetery and was suddenly in a 20 minute conversation about how he is an evangelical Christian and how the Catholics are confused about this day- they are just visiting emptiness. I think he has a bit of a point but there is something about taking time to remember and reflect on the day of the dead.
