Wonderful people

Meet Nuni,

And Lindsay.

Our kind and generous hosts while we relax in Florinopolis Brazil.

It's a good life.

Another ocean

The island we are staying on has over 40 beaches.

(oi is Portuguese for hi)

So far we have only been to 3

And they have all been beautiful.

I could get used to this...

A herd, murder, pack, coven, whatever

We were on our way back from the falls and 30+ coati suddenly swarmed the path!

Striped tails, cute little faces and so many!

Niagara Falls' jungley cousin

Getting close...

And closer...

And closest! We took that scary-exhilarating-get soaking wet from the waterfall-boat ride.

After drying off a bit we went up to the "Devil's Throat".

Loud. Massive. Green tinted. Rainbows.

And so close! Again!

And this is me, in my maid of the mist poncho from niagara falls. Thankfully it was hot enough that a bathing suit was the better choice, but I think it was happy to be near a waterfall again.

Too much

Plaza republica is always spamming my news feed, ugh

BA in a day: part DINNER

This meal is sponsored by my father-- lover or argentine steak and wine. Was ordered by Vanessa, by my Spanish lab teacher from mount a, who now lives in BA, and fully enjoyed by all parties.

Delicious.

Cooked to perfection. Also eaten but not pictured-- a plate heaped with BBQ veggies.

Pancakes filled with dulce de leche and then grilled to have that delicious burnt sugar taste and a little shot of coffee.

We ate at 1130pm and were full well into the next day.

BA in a day: part 3

Old city: impressively large buildings,

Some pink, and many with a European feel.

And many 8+ lane roads for you to try and cross.

My tip is if you don't start crossing just as the light changes, your going to have to sprint at the end.

This multiple lane highway is one of the things I remember about my first trip to Argentina in 1997 with my dad. We sprinted.

BA in a day: part 2

La Boca: tourist haven. Also pretty coloured buildings,

Pretty pretty

And sunny. Quite warm

Time for a delicious frappe-- mine was dulce de leche and alfajore flavoured. Oh, are there tango dancers at the neighboring restaurant as I drink this? I must be in Argentina.

Location:Buenos Aries, Argentina

Buenos Aries in a day: part 1

Only one day in Buenos Aries? Do everything in 12 hours.

Ricolatte Cemetery: rich people like to look rich even after they are dead.

Evita Duarte Peron is no exception

Rich, dead, and cats cuddling in sun breams on top of you.

Location:Buenos Aries, Argentina

Mojito-ed

One: (enormous and best I have ever had) mojito

(with delicious tiny orange tomatillos,

Creepy mannequin performer guy, card trick magician

Wait staff who let you canadianize their USA button,

And overall elaborate and interesting decor)

Two: (martini) mojito

---break for super delicious sushi: the one on the right is wrapped in fried banana!!-----

Three: coconut mojito (at a salsa club where I poorly salsaed)

And then we were done. After just 3 (delicious, strong) drinks.

Writings on the wall

In our adventures we found that Bogota didn't have a lot in terms of architecture,

But they make up for it in interesting graffiti

Making up for lost time

Having spent one day doing nothing, we resolved to make sure we saw something of the city before we left.

So we saw it all! We took the funicular up a couple hundred metres and saw the whole of bogota before us.

It was a rare moment of sunshine. The weather was actually nice - the exception not the rule as it SNOWED where this photo was taken the day before.

For me and Myrie: seeing a city = trying out it's cafes. This was delicious.

And this is excellent! Note the volcano in the background. Colombian Mona Lisa! We are both Botero fans after the statues in Medellin and now another museum full of his stuff and some Renoir, Monet, a few Picassos...

Lots of excellent Boteros... So good!

And then hot chocolate and cheese. It is what the locals do- Myrie gives it a recommendation. A much better day!

Customer disservice

Today we booked our flights to get to the other side of the continent. Complicated and frustrating. One wrong flight booked, (you can't fly us to the Brazilian side of iguazu if we dont have visas, that's why we asked for the Argentina side...) hours of attempting to fix the situation, including them having us call visa to cancel the charges (...no, unsurprisingly visa can't do that) because the colombian company "couldn't", finally resulting in us firmly and repeatedly insisting that they fix the problem they created, and then 3 1/2 hours later finally hearing a "disculpeme"; we have a flight booked, to the right place, with a day to enjoy Buenos Aries thrown in for good measure.

Best part of today: this delicious dinner.

So good. And then dulce de leche gelato. A good end to a frustrating day.

And it's still an active mine (but they mine at night so tourists can enjoy it)

Ceiling

And walls... All salty!

And our dinner: Myrie said it needed salt...
