Park it

Instead of taking the super touristy and expensive tourist hop on hop off bus around town to see the parks, we practiced our Portuguese (read: spoke the 2 words we know and then went to Spanish and English) and took local busses instead. Totally do-able and less than half the price.

First we went to the botanical garden-- caught the bus from the historical centre of town and then were dropped off just a few minutes walk. This Impressive French style greenhouse awaited us.

Then we were off to the wire opera house. Walked north a block, accompanied by a friendly guy who told us where to catch the bus, and was walking in the same direction. From there helpful bus station staff told us to take the bus to a terminal where we would then switch to interbarrios bus 2. The bus dropped us off right in front. Excellent!

From there, with the reassurance from 2 friendly security guards that another park was just a kilometer away, we walked to this odd building with good fountains and nice views. On our walk we noticed the bus going by had the street name of our hostel-- perfect!

Curitiba: good parks, nice busses, kind people, excellent clouds

Location:Curitiba, Brazil
